In Charlotte's Way, Fischer reminisces about the life of a dear friend who had passed away. The 20-page poem meanders through time, capturing the banal activities of one's day, which flow into moments of nostalgia, then back to the present again with note of passing time. The accordion fold format emphasizes the fluidity of Fischer’s thinking. Rather than turning from one page to the next, all the pages are connected, creating a book that ends back where it started. This format also allows the small book to expand out occupying both space and time, further reflecting the nature of Fischer’s poem.
